Brown Bears
Hallo Bay, AK

Another image from my recent trip to Hallo Bay. We had been photographing this mom and cub as they grazed in the bushes, nursed and napped. Here both mom and cub had lifted their heads briefly before returning to sleep. The whole encounter was truly a special experience.

Canon EOS3 with 500mmIS and 1.4TC, Provia 100F pushed one stop. I would have loved a catchlight natural or fill flash but flash was not allowed.

Thanks for looking. Are you tired of the bears yet?

A tender moment indeed!
This is beautiful. Might be a bit tight on the right, but who cares :)

"Are you tired of the bears yet?" Absolutely not!

Love the interaction between the two. Am very curious though why you switched back to the EOS3 here since from prior posts it looked like you were shooting primarily digital?

This is a terrific image. Not only is it a tender moments but, you captured it without there being any overlap of the bears. Very well done. You were in the exact spot to capture this. Great work.

Rich,

Actually I still shoot primarily film but when I got back from the trip the digital was already on the computer and I had to wait for the film to come back from the lab and be sorted then scanned... so if I have some good digital shots, I am more likely to post those. i can also supply the tech data more easily from the digital. I will shoot digital in low light or with subjects far away (birds) but still use my EOS3 much more than my 10D.

Sweet shot Cheryl! Love the sleepy-eyed look in the mama's eyes. :) BTW, I appreciate your fashion sense. The cocktail/camo combo is awesome! I go into a deep funk everytime I have to attend an event that requires me wear anything more formal than jeans and tennis shoes! Thank goodness that ain't very often!!!!
