Sea Otter, Pipers Lagoon, Nanaimo, B.C. Canada

I had set up to photograph some ducks and cormorants this morning when I noticed a trail of bubbles moving along the water towards me. This gentleman popped up and regarded me for a moment before continuing on. I managed several portraits but like this one best, as the trailing body looks like a serpent to me.
Regards
Rory

very cute, I love these guys; my only desire would be to have the otter's left eye in focus.

Nice! I like the serpent look too. I wonder if you could cut back on the contrast some.

He is a cute guy! Are you sure he isn't a land otter?

I really like this one, Rory. It's a unique angle and composition for an otter shot, you did a great job on the exposure, and he's caught in a perfect pose. Well-done.

Cool shot. I like how the bosy trails back through the image.

Good catch but I have to correct the ID. That is a river otter, not a sea otter. We have both in Prince William Sound and I regularly see river otters in the salt water, as well as in the fresh. Great shot though, they do not sit still for long!

Nicely done- I like the low angle.

I'd be inclined to agree with Milo- sure looks like a river otter to me. Still, a great catch!
