HUH! And you thought you'd get through the week without seeing one of my moose pictures- Not Bloody Likely! (Yes, I ended up with a sizeable stash of moose images this fall.)

These two bulls faced off but never got very close to each other. What looked like the larger of the two actually backed down. Since size isn't everything (unless you're talking telephoto lens of course!), our beautiful maiden moose warmed up to the winner of the face off.

None the less, nothing happened. Within a short time he laid down for a nap only to have her come over and actually kick him!

Romance- it seems almost as complicated in moose as in humans!

EOS 3, 70-200/2.8, Provia, tripod, maybe a 1.4 TC.

Great shot. The image says it all with the 'smootchies' in the FG and the 'loser' in the BG...The scenery is darn good too. Thanks for not disappointing us and making us go mooseless this week.

Tim, thanks for the entertaining commentary! It would have been cruel and unusual punishment to make us go for a week without a moose shot after getting us hooked on them. You captured some interesting behavior and the snow-covered vegetation is nice.

I can always depend on you to come thru Tim. I like the comp with the moose in the background. Sprinkling of snow is very nice as well. Thanks for posting..

Thanks for the comments.

Dick- this, as with most of my moose shots, was taken in Anchorage. With our large moose population, you'll find them virtually every where. My alpine images of moose are taken in Chugach State Park, which is adjacent to Anchorage.

Hey Tim,

Excellent image! Including the 2nd bull in the b/g adds so much to this. The sense of action in the f/g is great, heightened by the bull in the b/g. The snow adds a lot of mood.

One of my favorites of yours.

Cheers

Carl

Great job getting all of the elements into the frame. The image just wouldn't be the same without the second bull. The snow really adds to this as well.

"Love Story." Snow and background moose, as noted previously, really make this shot. Congratulations on a nice capture. (Looks like he has a smile as well!)
