??,??, Bontebok NP, South Africa, October 2002, Eos 3 + prbl 400/5.6L + rings, handheld flat on the ground, Sensia 100, full frame

As I have no reptiles guide, so I have no Idea what species this is. Also another one on my website that needs ID. Perhaps I'll post that one next. If you can help me, this is greatly appreciated.

As for the shot. This is a very small animal. It was around 15 cm in length. I chose for flat on the ground to get the eye-level feeling. I must say, I should try this more often. It's a different world from down there. Actually I'm only bothered with the OOF stone in front of the turtle. (more a big rock for his size)

Thanks

Peter

I like this shot. The OOF rock is a minor distraction but the low angle really makes the shot.

I have no idea on the ID, but you might like to try this website I found

http://www.chelonia.org/South_Africa_gallery.htm

I couldn't find one that looked like yours, but it might help ID your other one.

Peter that is actually a tortoise and should be pretty easy to ID based on where it was taken, size etc..

Wonderful shot. I really like the low angle. I have no idea on the ID either.

I think this is really cool. I love the colors and low angle although I do think the oof foreground distracts just a tad bit.
