Spectacled Bear
Captive
EOS30, Sigma 100-300 F4, Provia 100F, Handheld

These Bears, from South America, seemed to love climbing up their logs and trees and sitting way up high to get a better view. This guy was some 20 feet in the air and balanced right at the end of this log, but he was totally at ease!

All comments and critiques always welcome and appreciated and thanks for looking.

Very good composition and a great subject. A little flash would open up the dark tones a bit more.

I really like this alot, Carol. The pose of bear on the end of the log is great, and I like how he is looking off into the distance. The black against the white background works very well, and a bit more exposure was probably possible to get more detain the bear.

Carol, it seems so unusual to see a bear without a lot of vegetation. I love the pose and the perch also.

Never seen a bear pose quite like that before! He looks so sad...

Sure looks like an uncomfortable place to sit, but the view must be worth it.

Wow it's the great South American Bear Bird....not know for their capability of high flying the GBB can climb very well.

Like the upward pose the grey sky suits the black well.

Thank you for your kind comments everyone - the bear was looking up at a plane flying overhead! and being so exposed up on this branch he was feeling a little vulnerable I think!! :)
