This is my first post to NSN's wildlife forum, hope you all like it.

Bull Elk at Neil Smith NWR in Central Iowa. Image was captured in 1999 using a EOS3 and Canon 300 2.8L with a bean bag. Exposure and tech's were unrecorded.

Thanks in advance for any and all comments.

Beautiful setting and animal. He looks unusual in the long grass- most of the elk posted here are in forested habitats.

Perhaps a touch more USM and more room at the bottom for his legs.

Thanks for posting in Wildlife and I hope to see more images in the future. Perfect subject for this time of the year.. Exposure looks good. Nice colors and eye shine. The way the grass is and the horizon seems like you may have a slight tilt, but maybe its just me.. Thanks for contributing to the forum.. Keep 'em coming..

That's a nice bull. I don't think I've ever seen one in the grasses like that.

Overall a very nice image. As others have said, maybe a little more room at the bottom for the virtual legs, but good as is.

Excellent light and subject. Maybe a 1/3 more exposure would improve an already excellent photo.

I think a little more exposure and toning down the magenta a bit would make this pop.

Welcome to the group.

Very nice elk shot, with saturated colors and an animal in really prime condition. I like the composition and habitat, and agree with the comment above that the horizon line could give the impression that the shot isn't level.
