One of the well fed coyote at Bosque... They sure help with animal wrangling and this one stopped for a curtain call...

Nikon D100, Betsy (Sigma 300-800) 800mm, 1/1000@F5.6

Jeff,

That sure is one well fed coyote. Excellent portrait and comp. I love how he is looking back at you. It looks like it could use for USM though. You and Betsy did well.

Very nice shot, Jeff. The colors and textures of the coyote and background work very well, and you've placed the animal nicely in the frame. It does look a tad soft -- what ISO were you at to shoot at 1/1000 in what appears to be pretty low light?

sorry ISO was 400....should have listed that :-)

I am working on the sharpening thing...EJ gave me a recipe, however on my monitor when I go that last 2nd or 3rd sharpen it really looks bad...kind of jagged... so still working to figure it out..

:-)

Yes, s/she appears extremely well-fed! I think coyotes are hard to photograph and you have done well. Can appreciate your difficulties with sharpening; if you haven't tried this formula 100/0.2/0, you might give it a try as it is very effective on small files such as are posted here, and on fur and feathers.
