Bighorn Sheep
Jasper NP, Alberta, Canada

Here is another bighorn sheep shot from the recent STL in Jasper NP. It really was fun watching them scramble up these steep slopes without a problem.

Canon 10D with 100-400IS at 170mm, on monopod, 1/500 @ f/9, ISO 200, 25% crop.

Great timing. Is it just the angle or does he really only have one horn ?

Great catch. It is hard to believe they can jump around on such small ledges.

Very nice, Cheryl - that sheep really looks like it's in prime condition heading into winter. Nice job catching the start of the leap -- I'd like to see what the next frame looks like.

Great timing! I like the action.

Not sure about the eye- is that fill flash or just a bright sun?

Great timing to catch the start of the leap and as I don't have a good head for heights I always marvel at their agility and sure footedness on these steep mountains.

Cheryl, as others have already said, great timing to catch this one in mid-leap. I'm especially amazed at the agility, to quickly climb this cliff while looking ahead, not where the feet are about to land.
