Smiley gator

This crusty ole' gator was basking on a FL riverbank when I shot this. The light wasn't what I would have liked, but I shot it anyway. Note this guy is missing part of his upper jaw in the front. He was also missing an eye on the other side.

Nice gapin' gator shot. Nice illumination inside the mouth. Too bad about the harsh light on top. Did you use fill flash here?

Nice shot, esp with the open mouth.

I keep forgeting to stick a CPL on when shooting anything that's been in (or near) the water. Does help in harsh light.

Paul, harsh light or no, this is really excellent. Very well composed with the perfect background and shooting angle, combined with obviously a great pose on your subject. Although I agree a polarizer could have helped a bit with this, I still think you've got a great shot.
