Same female; same tree. Serengeti 2002. Been too busy to do post but wanted to continue the theme. Hate the sky - but how often do you get to look eye-to-eye at a wild lion 15 feet off the ground.

D60, 100-400 at 300, full frame & we were backing up to get a bit further away even as I shot this. The tree limb was almost directly over the road.
1/200 & f8 at ISO 800 (turned the dial to go to 100 and ended up at 800. Duh!) Flash at -1/3.

The BG may not work, but those eyes rock.... I never get a good low angle on the eyes, but then I never tried looking at them up a tree... :-)

Cheers,

The pose is great. The stare is captivating. Excellent!

Normally I'd hate the sky too, but in this shot, who cares?

Awesome in your face shot. 300mm ?

Rich, those eyes are intense, and I'm glad they weren't focused on me. I almost feel like she's about to jump out of my monitor and lunge at me.

Another wonderful tree shot Rich. Excellent and great detail, including the pesky flies!
