I cannot even remember posting an image, but finally here I go. A ray of sunlight on a pretty dark day in Danmark makes this an interesting image I think. I would obvioulsy have preferred to see some of the eye but folks that have tried capturing seals know that this is not easy with these animals :). The slide does not show the holo's above the chest, I am afraid I lost some of my PS skills here . . .

Cheers - Dick

Hi Dick,

I am very glad to see you posting here.

Personally I don't mind don't seeing an eye. One is now completely focussed on the big mouth. The image is quite interesting as a matter of fact. I only can find 2 minor 'improvements'. First the cut of the tail and 2ndly the transition between blue to black. I'd rather would have seen a somewhat lower angle so that the blue cuts more through the seal rather than almost over it. The fact that the seal still breaks the blue is better than the blue line above it.

I like this very much indeed.

Cheers

Peter

This is cool - it's almost like he is being fired on by the great laser in the sky and is looking up and yelling for them to stop. Very cool!

Very dramatic lighting and I like the open mouth behavior rather then just a static pose. Agree on the tail, but since it is film, it is pretty likely the end is under the slide mount.. Thanks for posting here, and making a fine contribution to Wildlife NSN.com

Dick,

No other suggestions to add to those made by the other posters, but wanted to chime in and say that I like the image -- very unusual. Further, I hope to see more of your images.

Regards, Simon

Hey Dick, welcome to NSN. This rocks!

BTW- I used to get the same hallo and overall diffusion when my focus was out of wack with the LS2000. It took a service call to clear it up.

Best,

Chas

Welcome to NSN Dick- always great to have another talented photographer posting.

Great shot- the mouth is more than enough interest to hold my attention. An eye might compete with that big yaw.
