There was a herd of 20 or 25 eles and several of them were walking along kind of in a wide row. They came to a point where they needed to walk almost in single file and I couldn't help but notice the older baby. He must not have been happy being in 3rd place because he kept nudging the little baby like he wanted him out of the way. He did this several times and it was quite comical. I wonder what would have happened if mom caught him!

The smallest ele is about 2 or 3 months old and the pushy one is a little over 12 months old (per our ranger).

These baby elephant shots just kill me. They are really great!.. I held a piece of paper up on the left side of your image to see what it would look like as an image of just the three on the right .. I think you would have to crop at the butt and clone away the tail to leave enough space ahead of the littlest...but I wonder if it provides some strength because it then goes from little to big, a nice group of three. See what you think and let us know. Otherwise with a subject like this, you cant go wrong. Sincere thanks for posting your work at NatureScapes.. Wildlife Rocks!

I too checked a crop to get rid of the adult rear and like it a bit better that way but this is a very entertainng shot as well and brings back memories of childhood... Thanks for sharing.

Cute....and it can be a challenge to get a cute picture of these guys..well done.

I also think moms, umm behind could go, but I think moving her will leave a funky shadow on the ground and on the babies head...a bit harder to deal with...and since baby steals the pic anyway...

Elephants are my favorite and I never get tired of looking at them...

Cheers,

Really nice! The symmetry of the 3 marching in unison is great, and that littlest one is just adorable. The larger butt doesn't bother me - it seems to show that the young ones are following the adult's example.

Sweet shot! I agree the three on their own makes a great crop, but for me the inclusion of the adults behind gives excellent size perspective which leads in to the little ones. Either way it works for me.

Is this one better?

Part of the reason I left the big rump in the first image was to show how small the first ele really is and that he really is being picked on. Also because of the shadows.

For my taste the original is better than this one for the reasons I have already given. :)

How rude of me not to acknowledge your comments- I apologize. I was too absorbed in looking at it in the different ways suggested.

Thank you all for the comments. They are appreciated.

This is so cute. I like the original post the best. Mom's leg doesn't bother me as it seems to be cut at a comfortable point.

So sweet. :)
