Hello, everyone. I took this shot this morning on the hill behind our house. This youngster was with 2 adult does, who kept more to the trees and tall sage than this one. She/he came out to investigate me, staying in the open for a minute or so until losing its curiosity.
These deer come down to our hillside every winter, and as the winter goes on they become more accustomed to our presence, so I'm hoping for more and better shots to come.

10D, 100-400 at 340mm, handheld, IS on. ISO 200, 1/510 sec. at f/8.

I'm having trouble with my glasses today, and I can't tell if I've oversharpened this or not. Anyway, thanks for looking.

Great light, and the alert pose ready to run is very nice. Doesn't look oversharpened to me.

I agree. This really shows off the capabilities of the 100-400 IS, too!

Sharpened just fine. Nice comp. A bit of FF might have opened up the darkness of his left eye.

A really sweet shot Tom, certainly not oversharpened. Lovely pose and gorgeous light on this very cute youngster.

How lucky you are to have these so close to home.
