The reason for my trip to Africa was to see elephants in the wild. It was so magical when I finally saw them.

I hired a guide that met me at the airport and drove me to several reserves/farms. The last several days of the trip we met some friends of his. After the introductions he told them - "we spent all day every day together for three days and it wasn't until we saw the elephants that I heard her speak and all she said then was 'this is blanking unbelievable'". Of course, he was exaggerating because we had talked but I know I walked around the rest of that day on cloud nine. It truly was unbelievable!

I only captured a small portion of what I saw with a camera but the big picture will always be in my head. I hope you enjoy the ele images -

Comments/critiques welcome and appreciated.
The other images I've posted weren't sharp enough - hope it's not overdone here.

Cindy

This is one happy little elephant. :D

He//she really looks like he/she is having fun with the water.

The grey of the elephant is a good contrast to the BG. Nice capture with the water dripping. :)

Excellent image and caption, Cindy! The straight trunk and dribbling water is perfect.

I loved your short narrative of the trip- your excitement is obvious. :D

Yes, to see them in their natural environment is magical isn't it!!

This does look a little over sharpened but the shot is great - perfect composition and subject and the dribbling water is the final touch.

Nice one!!

I remember my first time like it was yesterday, and believe me, the magic is still there every time you go back.

Like the shot. It's good to see he's figured out how his trunk works :)

This is adorable! The playful expression and the water dripping from the trunk really make it. Thanks for sharing some of your excitement.

Great shot. In addition to everything else, I love the apparent smile on its face.

Way too cute. :)

This is so sweet I think I'd have said "this is blanking unbelievable!" myself! A wonderful image!

Extraordinarily high on the emotional impact scale -- as others have said should come with a cuteness warning -- great capture.

I really like this shot, Cindy -- there's nothing cuter in nature than a baby elephant playing around with it's trunk, like they can't quite figure out what to do with the thing. I agree that no wild animal I've seen so obviously expresses emotions as elephants and they're such great fun to just sit and watch.

Definitely need a cuteness alert on this one. I love the dribble of water. Thanks for sharing this in Wildlife.
