Here is my image of a bull moose that we saw in Jasper with the Shoot the Light Workshop. We had been taking pictures of this bull and his 4 girlfriends (lucky guy) for a bit when he moved in to some thick stuff and bedded down again. I decided the picture party was over and went back up to the cars. Well about 5 minutes later I hear a commotion and here comes Mr. Moose out of the thicket and right past lucky old me... :-) You can see by his eye that he was anxious to be back in the thick stuff.

Again, a square crop...he was too close for anything but a shoulder shot and the rest of the front of the frame was more of a distraction. So here he is for you to enjoy.

Nikon D100, 80-400VR @165mm, handheld, 1/160@F9, cropped about 20% and minimal PS.

Cool! That expression is priceless.

I wish I'd been there for this one! I haven't seen a bull with antlers like these while I've been in possession of my 50-500. :(

Looks like it could benefit from a touch more USM, though.

I think this must be "all expression" week and this shot's a good competitor for the overall title. The mouth and the eye make me really wonder what this guy is thinking - he really looks puzzled. ("Rocky, what happened?" :) ) I'm sure I don't want to come this close to a moose - but I'm enjoying your headshot.

Jeff, great catch on this guy! That crazed look in the eye and snow on his face and in his antlers really make this.

Cool shot Jeff. I got nothing close to this of this guy. I really like the expression and the snow. I think he could use a bit more USM.

You really had a good trip Dennis. Do you need to take more notes from the trip to New Mexico?

I shall not leave full CF cards or empty batteries in my camera during breaks. 8)

Great image. Must of been one fun trip! :D

Jeff, this is an up-close and personal image for sure, and he could care less you/we were there. A far different scenerio when he is in the woods w/ the gals

I like the crop, very effective.

Best,

Chas
