I think this is my first post to this gallery. Not a lion from Africa or an Alaskan moose but a Louisiana opossum. I feel sort of like the Beverly Hillbillies but unlike Granny I don't plan on cooking this guy. :) I wish the pine straw wasn't there on the right but reaching in there and moving it was not an option.

My dogs discovered him first this morning, at the base of a tree in the backyard. I went back out to try to reshoot with more DOF but he is curled up and asleep and all I can see is fur. Gonna be a long day keeping the dogs indoors until nightfall when this little guy wanders away to safety.

Canon 10D, 28-105 @75, 2.5sec @f8, ISO 100. I wish I could remember I can now bump the ISO and get a faster shutter speed. Darn new toys.

Cute little guy! He's framed nicely in the "V" of the tree.

Very cute- I like the pink nose.

I thought the only place possums existed was along the road providing food for the local scavengers.... :(

He did a good job of holding still for your long exposure.

I hope your dogs aren't as obsessive as mine when something like this is in the yard. :D

Nice shot.

Nice peek a boo image. I think you could do a bit of cropping and get in a bit closer.

Must have been playing possum to get this 2.5 sec exposure this sharp  I like the framing and the exposure seems to be right. Cute capture.

Nice work, particularly in light of the long exposure. Like the framing as well, in the V of the tree.

Jenny, I think this is the only time I've seen a possum actually look cute! The pink nose and sparkly eyes really make this.

Looks like a young'un - bet he'd cook up real nice! ;) Don't know what the gene is for possums holding stock-still but it worked to your advantage here. Love the way the tree frames the little guy.
