Cheetah, Kenya, Africa

I have posted this shot before in another forum so forgive me if you have seen it before. Flawed in some ways, but it is still a favorite of mine just because of the experience. I know the eyes look a bit dark and the dappled light is not the most flattering, but I didn’t have the flash mounted and took what I was given (no excuse). We were there for about 20 seconds before the cat got up and walked away. I felt that the centered composition was the best in this situation.

My Mother likes it and that’s really all that matters anyway ;) She has a nice big print in her family room.

Thanks for looking :)

Sweet. The light is so soft there's no dappling evident to me, and the eyes look fine. (And even if they didn't, there's the magnetic lasso and levels! ;))

Glad you could join us in FFM Greg. Great portrait of one of my favorite cats. I can see why your mom likes this shot.

Loved it before and loved it now. Cheetahs are my favorite cat and this is one of my favorite cheetah images. With a look like that, I have the question exactly what is she thinking about.

This is a really nice shot, Greg. Great use of DOF to isolate the subject, and I especially like the somewhat weary look of this cat, which is a nice change from the typical regal african cat photo.

Hey Greg,

Lovely shot ... the ears laid back give it a sinnister feel, IMO. She looks unhappy about you pointing a camera at her.

Cheers

Well mothers always do know best. :D I like that you were either low enough or far enough away to get most of the eyes... The lighting is kind of a bummer, but it does work to show their camouflage.
