I know this isn't a very good shot - the shadows are a bit harsh, it's a bit of a crop, and my DOF was completely unprepared to get all of this large creature. (I'm used to little birds!) But I thought I would post my image of this gal for Greg and E.J., who will undoubtedly recognize her from our July trip to Alaska.

Digital capture with Canon 1D, Canon 300 f/4, handheld.

Enjoy.

I like the framing and her alert look. A bit more USM would help. The light is pretty harsh, must have been the one sunny day we had last summer...

This must be one of our local attack moose. The state feeds them in the winter in exchange for terrorizing the tourists in the summer. It helps to perpetuate the image that Alaskans are tough as well as to keep the tourists on the well beaten track.

Well it worked! I had this harmless little cow in my viewfinder at roadside then all of a sudden she was getting a lot closer, and FAST!

Nice shot Heather, better than anything I got!
