Here is another image I brought back from my trip to Africa this summer. There was also at least one other ele with only one tusk in this herd.

They estimate the elephant population at this reserve to be 500. There were great areas of "dead" where the eles had demolished all of the landscape. All that was left standing was bare tree trunks.

Comments and critiques welcome

Great catch with the trunk stretched upwards! I like that the eye is so distinct.

I like the diagonal of the trunk as well as the eye contact.

Very nice capture, here. I like how the trunk is straight out, the unique position of the elephant's mount, and especially how you've captured the eye wide open, which I found was difficult to do. Very good exposure also. Looks like there may have been opportunity to aim further to the right, including more of the elephant's body rather than more of the tree.

You really caught him sucking in the leaves and going for more. Very cute shot and unique.

Unusual but effective angle! Nice to get the eye - as well as the elephant working on one mouthful and reaching for another.

You did well with this one, its not easy to get the hide right as its such a dense colour and the eyes are also difficult to get life into, being so small in proportion to the rest of the animal.

Nice catch!
