I just got Photoshop CS and I wanted to try it on a difficult image. I really like the new version and I think there are a lot of good reasons for photogs to upgrade. With this shot I used Shadow/Highlight to improve detail.

Cow with calf in tow...cute, I like it! The fact that they are separated really works here.

Heather,

As you can see, momma was giving verbal instructions to her baby.

Hey Robert, nice shot.

Any chance of seeing the original for comparison ?

I love this - I've never seen a baby Moose before.

Very nice. Good detail in both mom and baby.

Dave,

Here is the original Raw file as shot.
Quite a difference.

As I said, I used the new Shadow/Highlight + 81 warming filter effect on the post.

Thanks for that Robert. As you say, quite some difference. I like the warm up effect too.

Excellent subjects and nice work in photoshop to really improve the quality of the image. I think this would work very well as a panoramic, with the forest cropped off the top.

Hey Robert, this is a very nice image, but I do prefer the original, less contrasty and saturated version to the one first posted.

Best,

Chas,

I tend to agree with you, I may have gone a little too far here. You know how it is with new stuff. I think that somewhere between the two might be best.

And where in Florida did you shoot this? (Sorry, I couldn't resist; the background, however, does remind me a bit of FL.)

Open mouth and mother and calf makes this a very nice capture. I'm with Chas on preferring the original and less contrast.
