This is a wonderful bear image and it shows how they live and rest. I wish the clouds would have come in for you and cut down on the whites in the background. I dont know much about PS, but I wonder if the background could be blurred and selectively in levels just brought down a bit. I think that would help keep the viewers eye on the sleeping bear.. I compared this with Chas' post and it looks like he had some clouds or overcast which helped with the background.. Otherwise great shot and I really like the overall sleepy mood of the cub resting in the tree.. good going..

This is VERY sweet and difficult to get. I know how challenging it is to shoot these guys. You did a nice job at balancing the Black subject, bright birch trees, and dark filtered light on the trees. GOOD JOB :D

Shooting Black bears on sunny days is always a tough challenge, A photographer is always dealing with lots of contrast. I tell my participants to expose for the bear and let the rest fall where it may. This looks like exactly what you did. The only way to tone down the bright areas is post production in PS. I love bear cubs they are always waiting to give photographers a cute pose.
