The first time I saw this image I thought - you need a manicure.

My 9 year old daughter just walked up and saw this and she said - I bet it would take a long time to paint those toe nails! And then she said - paint them pink. If you ever have to take that elephant to the zoo you will know which one it is.

Canon 10D 300mm 1.4x Subject dist: 10.5m 1/25 sec, f/14 ISO: 200
Don't even ask what that 1/25 f/14 is all about - this was my first time to see wild elephants (and my second trip using this camera). I had just arrived at this reserve, dumped my stuff in the tent, and went to the lodge for a late lunch before the game drive. Just as we were being served dessert someone said - the elephants are in the hide. I looked at my guide, Rod, and we hurried out to the hide. Oh my. There they were - a whole herd - and babies! and no camera! I ran back to the tent, grabbed the gear and rushed back and they were still there. I was so excited! I must have moved the dial without realizing it - the beginning of this series is f14@1/200 and then it's f14@1/25. How dumb is that. Another lesson learned the hard way!

Oops! I said the beginning of the series is f14@1/200 - they are f8@1/200.

Yikes! Just how close is the elephant?! I feel like I'm about to become one with the ants- the flat ants. :(

Cool shot- very different. I might have editted out the one blade of grass.

Looks like she could use a good pedicure!! This is a cool shot but I agree that the lone piece of grass in front of his foot should be removed.

Good detail in this shot, really shows the hide well - and the great spread feet which enable the large bulk of the elephants to move so quitely when they want to.

Very interesting shot which shows off one of many unique features of elephants, and one that most photographers pay no attention to. Sounds like quite a thrilling way to start your visit to the lodge.

ROFL - for some reason this cracks me up. I think this would be cool as a high contrast, high grain, black and white.

Another ROFL. Reminds me of my toenails! My first thought was that it might be a little oversharpened, but after reading E.J.'s comment, I concur entirely!
