I like the perspective- it really allows you to see the details on the gator's back. The clouds are great too.

The red thing by the right eye is distracting. What is it?

Very cool shot, Dan. I love the monochrome look with the different highlights on the water, and really enjoy seeing the arm position of the alligator under the surface. Exposure and composition are right on -- my only wish is that you'd zoomed a little wider so I could see all of his back legs.

Different view but very effective. I like that bit of red on his head. (I had guessed it was a bug of some sort.) Love the little ripples in the water and that right front leg looking so relaxed. Any chance you took a shot with a polarizer also? Just wondering if that would cut some of the reflected light off his back.
