Red Deer (Cervus elaphus) – Richmond Park, London.

Canon EOS10D, 600mm/f4, Gitzo 1548 + Wimberley Head.
Evaluative metering, f6.3, 1/800, iso 200.
RAW file processed in Capture One LE; cropped from horizontal to vertical; curves adjustment and sharpening in Photoshop 7; final application of usm as local contrast enhancement at 30:40:0.

Photographed this stag a couple of weeks ago when the testosterone levels were at their peak. It is difficult to get clean and/or unobtrusive b/gs here and there is also a lot of people activity – cyclists, joggers and dog-walkers - at the weekends. Got an interesting shot, similar to the one shown, with a cyclist in the b/g, wearing lurid, yellow, lycra. That one I’m saving for the next years’ BBC wildlife photography competition

Phil,
Very well done, particularly in view of the obstacles in your path. No nits whatsoever. Glad to see all of your photo equipment up and running again; hopefully no more problems.

Very impressive; nicely done to get a clean background. (Can't wait to see a background with yellow lycra! :) ) Looks like he's poked himself in the back and is crying about it!
