In the Masai Mara during the wildebeest migration, it's seemingly more difficult to get a photo of a lion without a wildebeest carcass in the frame than with one in it. When this young male lion dragged this carcass about 1/4 mile at mid-day to get under the shade of a tree without losing his food to the hyenas, for some reason I thought I'd try some pan-blurs of the event. Canon 1Ds ISO50, 70-200 at about 100mm, 1/15 and f9, full frame.

Gorey, but effective. I think that the pan blur works very well here.

Matt,

You did a great job. Great action and the blur adds to the felling.

Nicely done. Even more blur would have nice to convey the action that's occurring.

Nice capture of life in action. The blur adds to the image and if possible a little more would be nice.

The blur is very effective here. It accentuates the action and helps mask some of the gory bits, perhaps making it more palatable to some.
