Grizzly Bear-Denali-Alaska

I think this thought crossed his mind when the bus stopped for just a couple of minuted, while eating berries unaware that we were there, he glanced back for a few seconds,(must have been all the camera shutters going off at the same time) The look was that of a predator, not of a casual observer, maybe he could see the bus load of middle aged pleasantly plump people on board, The corn fed group from Nebraska would have made a wonderful meal, not only were they well fed but by their girth alone, he knew they could not run very well or for that matter far, A Happy Meal indeed!!!
Here you can see his eyes, this is what I like about this shot!!
The image has been cropped for compositional consideration!!
D1x, Raw file, Lens=70-200mm afs-VR f/2.8-2.8 + 2X, FL=400, Incident metering, 1/200sec SS-f/9, EV=-0.3, ISO=200, WB=auto!!
Any comments and or reposts are always welcome!!

I'll have to take your word for it, Alex. This guy doesn't look like he's sizing you up as a meal. He looks more like he's sizing you up for a meal.
Big ole teddy bear eyes.

Excellent timing on this one to catch that 'look'.

Hey Alex,

Quite a nice shot of a bear in Denali. The eyes have it. How long were you there? I don't know too many people who went there without a pro permit and got some of these opportunities.

Cheers

Carl

Ditto Dennis's comments. Would have liked to see the color with a late afternoon shot, man those purples and greens would have popped!

Carl, I was there two days, both days on the bus, the first day provided all the best animal images, the driver was a very knowledgeable fellow that would slow down or stop ever so often, I grabbed whatever I could , had to go into high ISO to keep my shutter speed above the FL, I think I got pretty lucky by talking to other people who have been there as well, the only missing important animal was the Wolf!!, Still I feel that I just got crumbs compared to what the place had to offer, just crumbs!!! , Frustrated , the second day bus trip was used for scenic shots!!

This is so good....! Great capture of the Griz with the eyes so visible. The colors are wonderful. I might be tempted to crop off the green vegetation at the top but certainly not needed. A bit more USM shows just how sharp the image is.

Hey Alex,

2 days eh .. well, I have 2 words for you .. and they rhyme with "shup ub" :D :D :D

I know folks who were there for over a week and had nothing but rain and low cloud, and the closest bear/moose/caribou they saw was 100 yards away. I understand what you're saying about the crumbs, believe me .. but buddy, you got better stuff than many folks get, or even see, in twice that time.

Alex, I hereby officially forbid you for making any further remarks negatively related to your experience in Denali NP. that's it, finished, zip, zero, nein, kaput, finito, no mo, adios, bon voyage and sayonara!

Do I make myself clear?

 :D

Cheers

Carl

Great composition, pose, and moment of capture, Alex. That really is quite a look that bear is giving you. You did very well in Denali if all these shots you're posting came from day trip bus rides -- you obviouly had a lot of cooperative creatures close to the road. Congrats!

Wonderful "what me dangerous?" expression on this fellow. I think that I would crop it a bit from the top to focus more attention on that expression.
