Red Fox
Hallo Bay, AK

I have posted other shots of this fox on other sites but this is the first time posting this image. This vixen was sleeping up among the rocks and only opened her eyes to check us out when we slipped on the loose rocks. She was unconcerned about our presence and i sat 10 feet from her at one point without disturbing her. It was one of many wonderful experiences at Hallo Bear Camp.

Talk about laid back, if she was anymore relaxed she'd be an ex Red Fox (/end Monty Python dead parrot sketch).

I think you can excuse the lack of catchlight in this case.

Sweet little fox Cheryl! She certainly doesn't look at all disturbed. I'm wondering how common it is for Red Foxes to be this tame. While at Metzger's Marsh today I turned around after 10 minutes of shooting dragonflies only to see a fox standing about four feet behind me. I had no idea that he had snuck up on me. After about five minutes I carefully snuck away. :)

Beatiful shot, gives you a great feeling of it's environment. It's amazing that she did not take off when she noticed you scrambling by.

Really neat Cheryl. You were lucky to have her sleeping in such nice light. Did you take an EOS3? Surely that motor drive would have awakened her.
