There was but a small window amongst the braches through which I could take this image. Thanks to Phil Shaw lending me his 300 f/2.8, I could frame this precisely in-camera as envisioned.

1D, 300 f/2.8 IS
Exposure-determined via evaluative and histogram. Keeping the left side of the graph just off the edge insured detail in even the darkest of areas.

Best,

You just have a never ending supply of cute bear photos. Perfect exposure and the pose is absolutely adorable. It sure is nice when you can get the shot you envision. way to go.

This cracks me up - he is just totally slumped over that tree. I love it.

Chas, I burst out laughing when I opened this. That relaxed slouch just cracks me up. Of course, the exposure and sharpness are just perfect.

Chas,

This is excellent. Looks like the cub is just plum tuckered out.

I don't know if you remember when you switched to Canon when some people wondered whether you could keep producing incredibly sharp, 3-d style images. Unquestionably you have. It goes to show there's more to making great images than just the equipment.

BTW, really awesome image. So, is a 300 f/2.8 in the works?

Cheers

Its all been said Chas, but i would like to add what ive noticed about this photo and i believe is what really makes it for me. The BG!! The backround is perfectly OOF and the colors within the BG match up really really nice with some of the color in the tree. Awesome awesome photo Chas!!
