Hello NatureScapers: This is an arctic fox kit image made this summer on a Greg Downing Instructional Photography Tour in St Paul Alaska. Of course we photographed every bird we could find, but we also tried to photograph mammals, including fox and seal, and some very nice landscape pictures were made by other members of the group. Of the mammals, the fox were my favorite. From previous posts, some may remember we were using a tour van, minus the seats, as a blind. EJ and Karen shot out the side door and I used the passenger window with a window mount. At the very end, I was able to get out in front of the fan, using a tripod and shoot this kit at MFD with a tube on! It was exhilarating to say the least. The slow approach with the truck was very effective and after two hours of slowly moving in, making images, moving in, making images, they paid no attention to us. Greg, it was an outstanding trip. I still laugh out loud when I think of some of the photo sessions in the pouring rain, or making puffin images in AK at 15 minutes before midnight!! I will never ever forget EJ drinking Coca Cola on the bus!! This was the very last image I made of fox that session and I think it is one of my favorites. I like the way the vegetation frames the portrait. Thanks for looking and any comments or suggestions. Dennis Olivero
