VFNP Buck

Image taken this morning at Valley Forge National Park. The BG was pretty close to being black as i metered the scene as is. I added a touch of black to the blacks in selective color to darken it a touch more as you see here.

Any and all comments /critiques are appreciated!!

Light is a bit harsh on the buck, and I'd trim a bit off the right side, but I think the dark band at top helps provide a "refuge" for the deer - someplace to hide. The alert stance and tall grass add to this tension, which works for me.

Excellent subject and love the velvet on the horns. I think you did the best you could with the light that you were dished up. I'll bet you were praying for a cloud to come over and turn down the sun. This would have evened up the light and help maintain the whites and also open up the background...but you just have to take what you can get when you can get it, or let it pass and enjoy the scene..
