Moose in the Mood-Denali NP

One of the few images I got to savor during my trip to Alaska in September this year , Just before to the entrance to Denali NP but inside the park, The rut had started and they just wanted to meet the females congregating in the area, the fall colors were ever present signaling the change of season and the coming winter!!!
D1x, Raw format, lens=70-200mm afs-VR-f/2,8-2.8G + 2X Teleconverter
FL=400mm, Incident metering, 1/200sec-f/5.6, EV-1/3, ISO=400, WB=Auto , No flash used!!
Any and all comments welcome!!

Awesome Alex! This is one I can look at and savor for a long time. I would love to experience autumn in AK sometime. The colors are incredible and the pose is perfect with him looking back across the frame.

Excellent moose image Alex.. Nice work with the 2x and VR lens, very sharp and 5.6 was just the ticket... Very well done indeed!

Alex, this is absolutely gorgeous. One of my favorites of yours even though the subject has no wings. The FG and BG definitely look like an impressionist painting, and I agree with Jill that the artist could be Monet. During my trip this summer, I was at Monet's home at Giverny, and the gardens and field were not unlike the foliage in your image. Well done, my friend.

Very good exposure- its hard to get good detail throughout the image when the antlers are bleached out and the body is dark.

Very attractive combination of subject and b/g. As a final element of your workflow, you might consider including enhancing the contrast across the frame by a further application of usm at 30:40:0 or thereabouts. This will remove the digital haze and make the image 'pop'.

Best wishes

I can certainly see why you would savor this one. It is awesome. It does remind me of a Monet.....and this is a true piece of art. Excellent detail on the moose and just the right touch of color to put him in his radiant glory.

Well done Alex. It does have the feeling of a painting. Good detail in the moose as well.

What a great Moose image. Exposure is remarkable and the Autumn colors just set the whole image off.
