Hello NatureScapers..

Over memorial day, I had a chance to spend four days in Custer State Park, one of my all time favorite places to chill and photograph and observe wildlife.

I dedicated a day of time to working on the prairie dogs. This image was taken at the prairie dog town near the Windcave end of the wildlife loop. I was laying on the ground. I had to de-flea myself after that but it was fun to get on the same level with the pdogs.

This particular p dog will be gracing the cover of a kids book for publication and distribution early next year.

Hope you like it and thanks for any comments or suggestions.

What an expression. this is perhaps my favorite Prairie Dog photo of all time. I might bump the contrast up just a hair.

These guys can be so cute and so full of personality. You've captured it well here. Love the pastel quality of the image.

Congrats on the sale. This is a really cute PD image. I think E.J.'s suggestion to bump the contrast a little would really make this pop.

Just a great doggie shot! I NEVER get tired of photographing them but they are a rodent and prone to fleas. They are an integral part of the prairie eco-system and a pain in the backside for some of the ranchers and farmers. But their presence in Badlands National Park made it possible to re-introduce the Black-footed ferret there.

Terrific! The expression and soft texture make this for me.

Maybe a little more contrast, but this pose is excellent! It will make a great cover :)

Great shot. I like the soft pastel/lower contrast feel to this image especially for the cobver of a kids book. Congrats on the sale.
