Had a welcome visitor this evening.  1st chance this season.  This is the same welcome visitor from last year and has clearly had kits.  (I'm guessing about 2-3 weeks back by a) her behaviour over that time period, and b)  the size of her teats...  Naturally, she still has her winter coat and is in good condition.

Grabbed what I had at close hand.  Z7II and 400 F4.5 S.  FF shot as is.
techs... 1/80 F5.6 ISO 800.

Thanks for looking.

How lovely that your vixen should come to visit Dave.  She knows where she's safe.  :)

A beautiful image with wonderful detail and love those eyes!

Great that she feels so comfortable around you and hopefully she will bring her offspring for a photo session soon.

Lovely portrait, Dave - impressively sharp for 1/80 handheld!

Enjoy your encounters ;)

Thank you all.  Yes, Sinuhe, the IBIS works a treat.  That lens is particularly light and have found the only issue being subject movement.  At or around 1/50 and under, my own body movement kicks in.  (The defence mechanism being to take more shots or crunch the numbers, as its easier to find the "keeper"... That and up the ISO, but I am still  sucker for pushing that down where I can to the edge of practicality, as I like the IQ produced.. And that's with recognition of superior Noise reduction programs nowadays).    :D

In "planned" trips, I can see me using a monopod for the 800, with the 400 4.5 left as a hand held option.  (not done a field trip with the 400 and 1.4 yet, but its easily hand holdable.... my last thought being using support might be nice sometimes as it'll be a change of shooting style.  (sitting and watching, rather than being mobile).
