Orca
Inside Passage, Alaska
D500, 80-400 at 80mm, 1/2000, f/8, ISO1600

We had a magical 90 minutes with a pod of orcas that were incredibly active the entire time.  Breaching, tail lobbing, spy- hopping, you name it.  Unfortunately there was a steady drizzle and wind which made challenging conditions- not to mention a rocking boat.  A researcher was able to identify the pod from photos of the saddle patches and dorsal fins of several animals.  They are the "Transient" ecotype.

Very nice breach Cindy, made all the better with the coastline framing the experience.

Great to see and capture this one breaching, Cindy, and the inclusion of the coastline really takes the image up another level. Lovely action and composition. Very nicely done!

You did very well given the difficulties stated! Great setting and a lovely breaching shot.
