My apologies in advance.  Some things are probably not meant to share, and there are many thoughts running through my mind, which will be left there.   .   One thinks she is looking at me to say, please no photos.....

From a point of view of observational behaviour, this was a first for me.  Cannot really say any more.

Please remove if found offensive.  It's not meant as such.  More an unusual sighting in her behaviour to have witnessed.

Thanks for looking.

When you have the opportunities to see and photo different behaviors, with such a cooperative and comfortable subject, that's a real treat. She does look like she's asking for some privacy, though!

Sometimes called 'scooting' in foxes and dogs alike, their anal glands can become blocked and uncomfortable.  By dragging their bottom along the ground it can help to clear the blockage and ease the discomfort.  The anal glands are used to secrete a few drops of fluid each time they defacate, thus leaving their unique scent to mark their territory and leave 'messages' for any other passing foxes to sniff and decode.  It looks like your foxy lady is trying to ease her discomfort in her bottom.   Just one point - this may in her case be due to eating human handouts of the wrong food and resulting in her digestive system not functioning properly and passing sufficient stools to empty her glands.

I hope she feels better soon! :(

Carol.

I agree, she does look like she is asking for a bit or privacy.

Carol is spot on with her observation - fellow dog "owner" ;)

Thank you Cindy, Carol and Sinuhe.  On a positive note, the image was taken over 4 weeks ago and she has not shown any further signs of discomfort.
