Polar Bear male
Svalbard

This was the first bear that we encountered on the trip.  On the trip prior to ours, he was seen feeding on the same whale carcass that we had the mom and cubs at.  We found him some 15km or so away from it, 3 or 4 days later.  He had some kind of mark on one shoulder that was recognized to ID him.  He was just ambling along the coast line, then he dug himself a day bed in the snow and settled in for a long nap.  So we left him sleeping.

Another great shot from your trip- such a handsome fellow. Nice contrast with the rocky environment.

Nice action pose with excellent detail. Lovely capture making him stand out well from the rocky terrain.

Great to see this unusual setting, it looks as if they they have no problems finding enough food in this area yet.
