Boyd's Forest Dragon Lophosaurus boydii

Been a very long while since I've posted in this forum - I found Boyd's Forest Dragon, found at Chamber's Rainforest Lodges near lake Eacham on the Atherton tablelands (Australia).

Went with a tail crop as the tail is so long that the size of subject in frame is quite small.

Found it at night at the nocturnal mammal  viewing platform, but it was asleep.  Came back early the next morning and it was still in the same spot, photo is mainly flash lit, with only a tiny bit of ambient light in the background.  Had the flash well off camera and found that Canon flash cords are fully functional with the Olympus flash.

Nice sighting and details Chris. Nice bit of luck with the flash cord functionality.

Fantastic details when clicked. I like your crop for the reason you mentioned.

Always good to see your work, Chris - whether land or marine creatures - and this is a beautiful capture. The pose, clinging to that upright is well portrayed (love the hind feet grip) and the detail is excellent throughout. Nicely done with the lighting. I guess it will wake up to hunt with the arrival of daylight through the forest canopy.

What a cool-looking creature and people say there are no dragons. :)

Terrific shot-great use of lighting and wow-look at those feet! Be nice to see the tail in another shot, just to know what the whole dragon looks like. Such an amazing creature-a "real" dragon!
