A Golden-mantled Ground Squirrel from last year that resided in an area that is burning right now. Our fire season is the worst in our history. With the backlighting, he reminded me of a sundial.

Clever thinking, Joe! It does look like a sundial and you placed the little ground squirrel in just the right spot. Fires are frightening, and can start so easily by thoughtless - or deliberate acts, and that's not incuding natural causes. Stay safe.

Carol.

A really nice shot.
I'm very sorry for what you say.
It is always very sad to hear how wonderful areas rich in flora and fauna disappear in the blink of an eye, while it will take years to regenerate...

Great idea to see this little guy as a sundial with it's shadow. So sorry to learn about the fires. They seem to get worse every year. :(.
