I was photographing a singing Eastern Towhee when this beautiful fox appeared under the same tree. We were both surprised! We gazed into each other's eyes for maybe 30 seconds. It was mesmerizing! After  I moved a bit, the fox turned and went back down the hill behind the tree. In that same tree at the same time , there was also a Savannah Sparrow. Three for one. An unforgettable experience. I was quite a distance from all 3-this is a pretty big crop. I am noting that Dave's fox in UK looks quite different than this American breed.

Wonderful sighting Cindy! (On all three accounts). Great eye contact from this Foxy Fox. (they are quite different.. in my view, the North American version seems classier).
Make your life spectacular!

Absolutely beautiful. Those eyes are mesmerizing. And the fur - looks like it was done in a salon…lol. I bet that was a memory! Agree, comparing the two foxes - they look different; one sassy, one classy.  :D

Thanks Dave. Your fox is so sweet and teddy-bear-like. Would like to see all of her! Doubt I'll see mine again...

Thank you AnnaMaria! I WAS mesmerized...and I think , so was the fox. We were both so surprised to see each other. I will never forget this encounter-I've never before locked eyes with a fox.  I like your description of the two foxes. :)

What a treat for you! I think your colder winter - more snow, makes a difference to their coat with it being longer and its still early in the year, but this is certainly a beauty and looks quite young! A lovely image of this fox, Cindy.

Wonderful work getting the best out of this chance encounter. It makes me wonder what you were each thinking at the moment you pressed the shutter.

Thanks Warren. I wish I knew what that fox was thinking! We were both surprised and locked eyes....I was just in a state of wonder...mesmerized, I guess.

A good looking fox! Looks good with the grass in the foreground and the low angle. Steve

Nice detail and eye contact. This might also work as a vertical crop?
