We came across this handsome male one late afternoon in South Africa. He was about 15ft away when I took this image.

I'm not a fan of cutting off an animal's body just in front of the hindquarters, Des - in fact I prefer your thumbnail with the cut closer to the back of the shoulders. That said, the gorgeous light on this beautiful cheetah is quite stunning!

Beautiful light and incredible detail of this handsome cat. I agree with Carol that a squared off comp may be more effective in this case.
