This was taken towards the end of the dry season. I followed this individual in the very hot and parched forest in the western part of Madagascar.

Fossa, like many top predators, is not shy, so you are able to get quite close if being careful. The challenge is often locating one. I was on foot and spent a couple of hours approaching him. He was at rest when I took this image. This is uncropped with a D810, at 500mm, f6.3.

A remarkable shot- beautifully done-such lovely details in the face and a pretty pose. Not sure I've ever seen a photo of this animal.

Excellent detail and eye contact in soft light. Not a species we see photographed frequently. Well done.
