I watched this coyote for a long while as he hunted for voles along the edge of this creek. At the time he jumped I didn't know he had actually seen or heard something on the other side. When he came up after landing, he had a vole in his mouth.

All your comments and suggestions are very much appreciated

Marvelous action shot, caught in mid-air. I really like the whole scene, telling the story. Looks like a beautiful painting. Did he land in the water?

Its amazing how their acute hearing can detect the movement (and possibly a tiny squeak or two) of voles at a distance, even under the snow. You can see the intense concentration as he is focused on the far side snow covered bank, so you just know he has pinpointed exactly where that little vole is! Fantastic action capture, Ken!

Great image and timing. Solid image! Amazing how acute their hearing is and the accuracy of their jump, even at that distance. Was this Yellowstone?

Fabulous timing of this Coyote, Ken.  Such focussed concentration.  Happy days for the Coyote on a successful pounce.  Brilliant!

Great moment and setting, makes you wonder how they sense the voles.

Well timed, Ken! I assume this was at Yellowstone? A place I have yet to visit...

Great action well captured Ken! When I first saw the thumbnail I thought he was walking on ice.
