A Lion trait to need to rest after a big meal to help digest their efforts.... Clarences cousin, I believe....  :).

Yes, they may well be related by the look of that squint, or maybe its those pesky flies.  :)   This old warrior looks like he needs all the rest he can get - and for lions that may well be most of the day!  I think he has earned his sleep from those tell tale signs of age.  A rather poignant image of advancing years and a reminder to us all, Dave.

Wow- what an amazing look! I guess he is asleep in spite of that strange eye. The light is perfect for this -slanting and sleepy. There is surely a story here and you have told it soooo well.

Looks like a bit too much tryptophan this holiday season. The dappled light is effective in this image.

Thanks Warren.   :D   He was having a lovely, soothing sleep thanks to the tryptophan, with just the odd eye opening now and then to say, come on down, and I'll snap you up too.
