Took this in a very nice cold spell early 2018.   Testing the new D850 I acquired.  Times move on... These two I've shown, but got some separation.  (They were quite skittish and earlier images always showed the daughter in front and mom hanging back a bit).

Techs.  D850 1/250 F8 at ISO 1000.  Sigma 150-600 at 300.

Hope all safe..  The phrase, we are not out of the woods, regretfully remains pertinent.

The older and wiser head of mother makes her just hang back a little, while daughter puts on a bolder front - yet both are checking you out with all senses alert. Great composition to give a real feel of their woodland habitat, and the light is gorgeous. A beautiful story telling image, Dave!

Lovely light and habitat, Dave- They both look very alert, even if mom is hanging back.
No- we aren't out of the woods...far from it. That makes a natural scene like this even more appealing- a sense of some sort of normality in the animal world, at least for a bit.

Beautiful! The light is just so very pretty. I like the balance of the tree on the left and the deer on the right. The haze adds a nice sense of depth.

Another great picture of yours David, I love the carefully thought out composition and the light so pleasantly warm.

A beautiful wildlife-scape David!!! Beautiful Light! I love the tree in the left side of the frame and the forest in the background.
