The weather hasn't been great for this year's rut. Global warming? I find that they really need a noticeable dip in the temperature to get going. The image was taken the same time a few years ago.

D500, 360mm (200-500mm), f6.3, ISO1600, full frame.

Wasn't he a handsome boy, Des! A beautiful portrait with his regal pose. Yes, the extended warmth into the autumn season does seem to mess up the desire to begin the rut with much enthusiasm as in past years.

Beautiful lighting on this handsome buck-the surrounding colors are lovely too. It's been pretty warm here too-just one light frost. Hmm....hunting season begins next week.
