The weather hasn't been great for this year's rut. Global warming? I find that they really need a noticeable dip in the temperature to get going. The image was taken the same time a few years ago.

D500, 360mm (200-500mm), f6.3, ISO1600, full frame.
Regards,

Des

Really a wonderful image, I love the warm lights and the overall golden colors.

Nice work capturing the backlight so nicely for this portrait Des! I hope to see these guys in person some day.

Wasn't he a handsome boy, Des! A beautiful portrait with his regal pose. Yes, the extended warmth into the autumn season does seem to mess up the desire to begin the rut with much enthusiasm as in past years.

Beautiful lighting on this handsome buck-the surrounding colors are lovely too. It's been pretty warm here too-just one light frost. Hmm....hunting season begins next week.
