Growing up in South Texas, there were lots of Jack Rabbits around.  Typically more than Cottontail Rabbits.  Now, seeing a fully grown Jack Rabbit in the wild is not common.

Very nice portrait of this fellow Gene. I really like the head turn.

Classic pose and beautifully captured, Gene. Perfect light catching that golden eye and illuminating the veins in the ear. Excellent!

Rabbits and Hares are both declining over here too, Gene.

Carol,  I think their numbers are declining in South Texas because of habitat loss and there are more coyotes than there used to be due to a loss of Coyote's natural enemies.

Wonderful shot-love the bright eye! And those ears-amazing. I'll bet it didn't sit there very long. Too bad to hear of it's decline. All kinds of rabbits are scarce here too.

Wonderful image. Terrific light and pose which really makes the eye and ears stand out very well.
