It took me a little while to work out exactly what this species was. There are quite a few different subspecies of the Prevost's Squirrel. Regional variations are common and this darker individual, Callosciurus prevostii pluto, was photographed in northeastern Borneo. We were about 25 meters (80ft.) above ground on a canopy walkway when this was taken. It gave us an eye level view of this gorgeous subject.
Regards,

Des

Nice find Des! I know that squirrels are part of the extended rodent family but its interesting that this particular one has a much more 'rat like' head/jaw shape than our more usual reds and greys.

Nice find- pretty coloring, quite unusual...at least they are not in my neck of the woods. :)
