Took this a while back.  Been updating my computer and back up hard drives and was struck by the rack on this Red Deer.

Shown full frame.  D800 and 500 AF-S F4 Nikkor.  1/200 F5.6 ISO 1600.

Please feel free to view uncompressed.  Thanks for looking and hope all safe.

The detail, shooting angle, look back pose, and the dusting of snow on the ground and on his antlers all come together to make this a very nice image.

A nice and thoughtful critique from John, and I agree with all his points. Its good to see the in between, quiet behaviour moments like this as well as the classic portraits and action shots more often posted. A lovely image with excellent content and composition, Dave! Lots to enjoy.

Very nice composition, I like how the floors are divided in the ground to give so depth to the whole.
The look towards the camera is the top.

Love the look back-so nice to see him nestled in the dead grass and snow. Those antlers are really something!

Love the look back pose and eye contact. The rack displays nicely against that dark background. Well done.
