Came across this in Manas National Park. The python had swallowed a hog deer a few days before and was slowly digesting it. (See swollen belly). It had kept its head was safely in some bushes(See inset). I could approach it without fear because it is a non poisonous snake and after a large meal they are lethargic.Plus the temperature was just a few degress C - being poikilothermic they are slow at low temperatures. This chap was huge is putting it mildly.
Note: I made sure the snake was not disturbed in any way afterall the subject is more important than the picture.

Amazing it can swallow a whole hog deer, with an adult being 35 - 37 kg! Fascinating find, and shot, Chidu!

Quite the sight-a great illustration of the event-I can't imagine how it managed to swallow a whole deer!
